FLOWER COASTER SEWING WORKSHOP
Sunday 23 March 9.45 am – 1.00 pm
£35 including refreshments, materials, use of equipment on the day, tutoring & certificate of completion.
This half-day group workshop with our guest tutor, Alison Pritchard, is suitable for all skill levels.
You will learn the basics of English Paper Piecing, a traditional hand patch working method. We will cover templates, fabrics, threads and different joining techniques that will help you get started with this relaxing process.
We will be making a flower-themed coaster, which uses the traditional hexagon. You can keep this plain to highlight the fabric, or add embroidery and trim for some extra detail.
Paper templates and a variety of cotton fabrics will be available, along with ribbon, trim and embroidery thread/needles. A felt or cork backing will be provided for your finished coaster.
Please feel free to bring your own fabrics if you prefer.
Cotton and poly cotton are perfect for small projects like this. (Try to avoid any fabrics with stretch or bulk, like velvet, corduroy etc.)
You will need to bring a simple sewing kit with you, containing pins, sewing needles, scissors, thimble (if needed) and neutral sewing thread.
There will be equipment available to use and a small iron for basic pressing once the piece is finished.
This FLOWER COASTER SEWING WORKSHOP will be held in the peaceful setting of our Blended Monkey studios on the Cambs/Norfolk border.
Numbers are limited to ensure you get plenty of 1-2-1 tuition.
This relaxing workshop is suitable for 16+.
About a week before your workshop date, we'll e-mail you again with more details about parking etc.
Refreshments will be provided throughout the session - tailored to meet all dietary requirements.
All students will be provided with a certificate of completion.
This would make a fabulous CRAFTY GIFT for someone - so drop us a line and we can post out to you/the recipient a complimentary personalised gift certificate for this experience🎁

"I've been a textile artist for over 30 years, with a range of experience in many different techniques.
I started with cross-stitch, moved into patchwork and quilting, and am now an accomplished quilter with a particular passion for free-motion machine work over hand sewn elements.
I love the mindfulness of hand sewing, particularly traditional techniques like embroidery, slow stitching and applique. English Paper Piecing is a great foundation for those looking to get into more traditional styles of sewing.
I love to combine these traditional processes with more modern designs, and sharing my knowledge helps to inspire new ideas and spark that passion in others."
