Sunday 22 September 10.30 am – 4.00 pm

£95 including tea/coffee & biscuits throughout, materials, use of equipment on the day, tutoring, glazing, firing & returning of all pieces to the Farmland Museum.

Price also includes the biscuit firing of all pieces and subsequent glazing in colours of your choice and final glaze firing – work will be delivered back to the Farmland Museum & Denny Abbey or can be collected from our Blended Monkey studios.

You will learn how to create a large coiled vessel in a design of your choosing and also two large botanical vases using the slab method – you can bring along your own botanicals (grasses, flowers etc.) from your gardens or surroundings if you wish, but I will bring along enough for everyone in any case. And your second vase can be a vessel designed as you wish - maybe with a Christmas theme?

Students will learn how to create a large coiled vessel using various hand building methods. The botanical vases use rolled slabs which are cut to size, botanicals pressed in and then vases created using a former. The pieces can be simple or elaborate. I will show how “sprigs” can be attached to the finished vases to create extra 3D effects if required.

The whole procedure will be explained from start to finish by me and also with the aid of real-time footage on a large screen showing each step up close.

I will then take all the pieces back to my Blended Monkey studios in Upwell where, once dry, I will glaze them in colours of your choice and fire them. The pieces will be returned to the Farmland Museum (if you request this as your collection point) for collection or you can collect them from our Blended Monkey studios.

I also offer 1-2-1 & pairs half- or full-day beginners pottery & throwing workshops in our Blended Monkey ceramics studio in Upwell - refer to the tuition section on this website for details.

Email enquiries@blendedmonkey.co.uk or call 07417 522366 if you'd like to discuss the workshop.
