Talk, Woodturning Demonstration & "Have A Go" Session
It was lovely to meet the Elm WI group on Monday evening - which also consisted of a few husbands too ... I think the woodturning element was a definite draw!
Simon & I provided the group with a talk about what we do here at Blended Monkey, including our creative therapy work, our 1-2-1 and pairs workshops & our guest tutor small-group experiences, where we invite guest tutors here to our Blended Monkey Studios in Upwell to come and teach their craft.
Simon then gave a demonstration of woodturning on the electric lathe, turning a honey spoon which he then presented to the group to be used as a raffle prize.
Members were then invited to come up and have a go at woodturning themselves - and 1 lady did indeed have a go.
We'd like to thank the group for the warm welcome. They're small in numbers, so if anyone lives in the Elm area and would like to join, I'm sure they'd welcome some more faces and fresh input.
The group meet on the last Monday of every month at the Pavillion on the playing field, Begdale Road, Elm. If you're interested in joining, contact Jane Carter at this email address: janecarter497@btinternet.com.
